Vypr’s Lead Software Engineer (Frontend) is a UK-based hybrid role focused on leading the frontend development of our product intelligence platform using Next.js and TypeScript, while mentoring engineers and driving best practices to create scalable, performant, and intuitive user experiences for manufacturers and retailers.

Our cross-functional, agile product team collaborates to design, build, and deliver Vypr’s brand-new AI-driven platform. Comprising software engineers, mobile engineers, automation engineers, product managers, designers, and a delivery manager, the team is guided by modern tech principles—such as a serverless-first approach, event-driven architecture, and CI/CD—to build scalable, secure, and highly available solutions that drive innovation and growth.

Things that you will do 

Lead the frontend development of Vypr Predict, ensuring a scalable, performant, and intuitive user experience.

Write, review, and maintain high-quality code in Next.js, and TypeScript, ensuring best practices are followed.

Drive the implementation and maintenance of frontend testing frameworks and best practices to ensure code quality and reliability.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, designers, engineers and QA) to scope, break down, and deliver complex technical tasks.

Drive best practices in software engineering, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated testing strategies.

Mentor and support engineers, fostering a high-performance culture and helping team members grow technically.

Ensure usability by following web standards and responsive design principles.

Identify and address technical debt, balancing feature development with long-term system improvements.

Research and evaluate new technologies, recommending innovations that enhance performance, security, and developer productivity.

Contribute to the technical strategy, aligning Frontend development with business objectives and future growth.

Driving best practices in frontend development, including code quality, accessibility, and UI/UX consistency.

Collaborating with the Lead Backend Engineer to align frontend development with the overall platform strategy.

Leading and mentoring engineers, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with Vypr’s values.

What you are good at  

You have deep experience with Next.js, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks, building scalable web applications.

You have experience building web applications on AWS and are familiar with its services

You excel at frontend performance optimisation, ensuring fast load times and smooth interactions.

You mentor engineers, drive best practices, and make informed technical decisions that improve system stability and developer efficiency.

You proactively identify technical challenges, optimise performance, and balance trade-offs between innovation and maintainability.

You work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and designers, to deliver high-quality solutions.

You can clearly explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on priorities.

You stay up to date with industry trends, evaluate new technologies, and drive improvements in development processes.
