Reports To

Head of Product

Vypr’s Senior Product Manager is a UK-based hybrid role focused on building our product intelligence platform by identifying customer problems, prioritizing features, and working collaboratively with engineers and designers to deliver high-impact solutions that help manufacturers and retailers understand what customers want on shelves.

What we do

Vypr is a Manchester HQ’d Private Equity/Venture Capital backed SaaS business. Our market-leading product intelligence platform provides reliable consumer data to help manufacturers and retailers understand what their customers want to see on shelves. This helps reduce the time and cost spent developing new products, which makes for better products, faster.

We’re a scale-up business with huge growth ambitions. We’ve proved product market fit with our existing offering and now we’re ready to scale at pace. We’re using scalable new technology to reimagine our product intelligence platform with limitless future potential, from personalisation to AI-enhanced insight.

Our cross-functional, agile product team brings together content and interaction designers, product managers, delivery and engineering to solve valuable business problems and deliver against Vypr’s product roadmap.

About the role

This is an opportunity to be part of building something transformational. There is huge scope to make a personal impact. The decisions you make will genuinely effect the future of Vypr.

You’ll need to understand the value that product brings to a team and be able to flex those principles to deliver value in lots of different circumstances. Given our platform is an insight product and we want to be data-informed in our product development processes, you’ll need to be comfortable working with and interpreting data.

What you will do

  • Work closely with our community colleagues to implement our data quality strategy, helping them to prioritise the most impactful features and get to value quickly
  • Plan and deliver a data quality product roadmap that helps us achieve our data quality vision
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and designers to refine and build high impact features
  • Measure the impact of the roadmap and communicate this value to the wider business

Who you are

  • A clear and concise communicator. You can work effectively with people from other disciplines, know what level to pitch a conversation at, and have a way of making things sound simpler than they actually are.
  • Relentlessly focused on value. You understand the context you’re operating in and how value is measured in your organisation. You ensure the work you’re doing day to day is contributing.
  • Curious about the world around you. You may not have any mathematical training, but you understand the power of numbers and data. You may have no technical background, but you want to understand our technology stack. You may have no design expertise, but you want to understand our service map and design system. You always have one more question to ask.
  • Collaborative by nature. You may prefer to think on your own, but you are comfortable collaborating with people and giving and receiving feedback on ideas and approaches. You know how to bring different perspectives to the table.
  • Passionate about product as a craft. You are a self-directed learner with a passion for this role. You read, listen and watch product related content to learn about approaches and think about how you can apply them in your day-to-day job.

Experience

We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager who is comfortable working at pace and with lots of autonomy. You will have worked as part of several agile product development teams in your time as a product manager, with experience of products at different stages in the product development lifecycle. You should be used to working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, solving customer problems with in-house design and engineering colleagues (not agencies or third parties). You’ll need to enjoy getting into the detail but be ready to take on increasing responsibility as we grow.

An analytical/technical background would be particularly valuable for this role as it will involve working closely with our community team, who work with large datasets and AI tools to ensure our data quality is the best it can be.

Our ideal candidate would have experience working in a product role for a technology start-up or scale-up. But if your experience is in larger organisations and you’re looking for a change, then don’t let this put you off.

Deliverables

These might typically look like:

  • Leading customer feedback sessions, summarising key takeaways and incorporating them into the product.
  • Identifying and defining customer problems and quantifying their potential impact to ensure we maximise value
  • Prioritising bugs, issues, new features and other work to ensure the team is working on the most valuable thing at any one time and stakeholders feel involved and informed
  • Producing detailed feature documentation to support colleagues and customers to use our products and services with no support from the product team
  • Facilitating agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, 3 amigos, retros, backlog refinement, sprint reviews to ensure effective collaboration and delivery
  • Running competitor reviews, analysing their strengths and weaknesses. Demonstrating critical thinking through areas of opportunity for Vypr.
